ChatLegend Client Policy

Clients, License Keys, and Vendor Workflow

Key Policy If you are a client who already owns a CodyChat license key, ChatLegend can still run your service. ChatLegend will never ask you to provide your license key.

Client-Owned License Key (What it Means)

  • You may already have a valid CodyChat license key from a vendor.
  • You can still purchase services from ChatLegend (hosting, setup, network operation, upgrades, moderation tooling).
  • Your license key remains private and under your control.
  • ChatLegend does not request, store, or handle your private license key.
This protects you from impersonation scams and prevents key theft.

We Will Never Ask For

  • Your CodyChat license key, vendor account password, or vendor login.
  • Remote desktop access to your personal device “to verify a key”.
  • Payment to “unlock” a license key or “verify ownership”.
  • Keys sent through chat DMs, Discord DMs, or social messages.
If anyone claims to be ChatLegend staff and asks for your key, treat it as fraud.

Separate Workflow: Vendor-Sourced Services

  • If you want add-ons, themes, or premium modules, those go through the ChatLegend vendor workflow.
  • In that workflow, ChatLegend purchases/licenses items from vendors using our own vendor accounts.
  • We then install and configure the licensed items inside the chatlegend.com environment.
  • Clients pay ChatLegend for vendor cost + implementation fee (as quoted).
This workflow is separate from “client-owned key” scenarios.

Service Workflows (Two Paths)

  • Path A — Client-Owned License Key: You already have a key. We provide platform services without collecting it.
  • Path B — Vendor-Sourced: You want add-ons/themes/modules. We purchase and install via our vendor process.
Allowed Sharing the add-on link/name you want is fine.

Not Allowed Sending private vendor credentials or keys is not required and not accepted.

Vendor Workflow (Step-by-Step)

  1. Request: You submit the add-on/theme/module name or link and your desired outcome.
  2. Compatibility Check: We verify version fit, platform constraints, and any security considerations.
  3. Quote: You receive a breakdown (vendor cost + install/config fee + ongoing maintenance if applicable).
  4. Payment: Payment is made to ChatLegend. Vendor purchase/licensing begins after payment.
  5. Delivery: We install, configure, validate, and document the changes.
Vendor licensing costs can be non-refundable once purchased. Custom work may require deposits.
